Ask Marc – Your Jukebox Questions Answered (March 2014)
“Can you tell me the cost to hire a pub jukebox?”
Peter Kingston, Crown and Cushion, London.
The answer to that is simple, Peter, it costs absolutely nothing. We can supply you with the very latest online digital jukebox on a profit-share revenue deal. Unlike other digital jukebox suppliers, we do not ask you to make up the shortfall if the jukebox under-performs. This allows you to trial the very latest digital jukebox in your pub at no cost at anytime. Installation is free so is technical support.
“What is the waiting time for touchscreen digital jukebox installation?”
Roger Allan, Malt Shovel, Northampton.
Once we receive confirmation that you want to proceed, we can install the jukebox in your pub within 7 days.
“What type of music does the jukebox have? We are looking for a coin-operated touchscreen jukebox that plays music from the 60s?”
Tracy Pearson, South Moor Sports & Community Club, Durham.
Well Tracy, you’re in luck! Our digital jukeboxes have every single Top 40 chart release since 1952. Enter any date into the touchscreen jukebox and it will display the Top 40 charts from that week. Searching for your favourite music couldn’t be easier. Tracks can be searched from a wide range of genres including 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. In addition to this, you can also have any music of your choice added to the jukebox at no extra cost. This can be arranged pre-installation, if required.
“Is there any binding contract with jukebox hire?”
Giles Hall, Maidens Head, Canterbury.
No, we do not expect our customers to sign a binding contract. Instead, if you want the jukebox removed, for whatever reason, we just ask for 7 days notice.
“Can we have songs playing when the jukebox isn’t being used?”
Mark Sim, Sudbrook Cricket Club, Monmouthshire.
Absolutely, and we would advise it. Pre-installation we will discuss background music settings with you. We can programme the jukebox to play the type of music to suit your venue. Nothings is set in stone with this, so if you want to make any additional changes after installation we can simply do this remotely. All our digital jukeboxes are online so we can take care of this for you.
“We have a social club in Guilford and would like to hire a jukebox. Do you have any information that I can forward to the committee?”
Jane Gardner, Gomshall Village Club, Surrey.
Yes, I will forward you a PDF brochure with our range of digital jukeboxes and pricing options.
“Are we able to control the volume on jukebox from behind the bar?”
Alan Morris, Axe & Cleaver, Somercotes.
Yes. Before we install the jukebox, we will discuss the separate music zones you require for example bar, lounge, pool table room etc. We will then install a volume control unit behind your bar so you can control the volume at different levels within your venue. A reject button within the control allows you to fade away any unwanted songs being played.
“Do we need internet for the jukebox to work?”
Tim Arnold, George and Dragon, Leicester.
No, but we would advise you to provide an online connection if possible. The main benefit for your jukebox being online is the fact that you will receive new music updates twice a week including the very latest chart releases and new album titles. New music updates help maintain customer interest and generate significant cash box levels. That’s why all our jukeboxes are online. If you haven’t got internet access, we simply install a MiFi dongle (this allows 3G internet access from a sim card, similar to a mobile phone). Another benefit of online connectivity is that settings and faults can rectified remotely within seconds of your call, without the need to send an engineer to site. Therefore downtime is kept to an absolute minimum.
So good to see you promoting the beloved Jukebox! I hope business is good. Every pub, bar and cafe should have a Jukebox and my new site will hopefully go along way to help promoting the wonderful Juke!
All the best, Si
I have noticed a few songs that were big hits do not appear on my local pubs jukebox, which is the same make as those supplied by you. (Nirvana – Smells Like Teen Spirit, Madness- It Must Be Love etc). Why would this be?
Thanks,
Len
There are a number of different levels of jukeboxes, so even though a cabinet may look similar to another jukebox, it’s the software version that would establish if these songs should be on there. If the jukebox your referring to has the ability to search for a song by date then these songs theoretically should be on the jukebox? If is so then this could be down to a number of reasons. The jukebox has not been updated correctly or the songs are hidden within the engineers settings. I would advise you to speak to the pub landlord and ask them to contact their jukebox supplier with your concerns. Hope this helps? Marc
