Secret Garden is a new bar that has opened recently in Kidderminster. It is unusual in that it was formerly a garden centre and it is a real hidden gem.

It has a beautiful outdoor area and you would not believe that you are actually still in the town centre, as it feels so spacious and tranquil.

Inside there is a modern bar area with fashionable décor which gives the venue the wow factor, in fact you would never believe it was once a garden centre. As a result, Secret Garden has not only attracted a regular clientèle, it has also created a buzz among those who want to hire it for private parties.

At the start, the management booked DJs to entertain the customers, but they were not that keen on the style of house music being played.

The regulars would often request songs from the DJ but the DJ couldn’t meet their demand. Basically they wanted to hear chart music, songs they all knew. They didn’t necessarily want to hear some obscure trance mix of their favourite music. So the DJ could not cater for their demand.

The venue tried playing music through iPod’s and CDs but found that their clientèle had a very diverse range of music tastes and soon the staff were getting fed up with having to constantly change the music for customers, particularly during busy times.

Finally, a few of the customers suggested to the management that they should have a jukebox.This was something they hadn’t thought of but they recognised the potential answer to their dilemma. As they were unfamiliar with digital jukeboxes and wanted to know the costs and what was involved, they contacted Hire Jukebox to discuss the options.

Manager Saeid Ghoncheh said:

“We knew our customers wanted a jukebox but we unsure which jukebox to choose and if we could afford it. I had a meeting with Marc and he asked me what we wanted. I explained we want to have background music playing but also allow the customers to choose the music they wanted. Marc explained that this was no problem to set up, adding he could also set up background music to play what ever genre we wanted. This was perfect, but I had one more concern – What will it cost me? When I was told ‘nothing’ I nearly fell off my chair!”

Marc Bird said:

“As usual, we listen to our customers’ demands working with them to find the best solution to suit their requirements. In the case of Secret Garden we have set the jukebox to play random hit singles from the 80’s until present day. We have also set the music to play constantly to create a party atmosphere. This way they get all the big hits played as background music and when the customer selects a song from the jukebox the background track fades out and the selected song fades in. As for cost, we don’t charge them a penny. The jukebox is installed on a simple profit share deal.”

A digital jukebox proved to be the perfect solution for Secret Garden. There is a dance floor area and the jukebox is situated between this and the bar. The jukebox has been connected to the venue’s existing sound system and it sounds amazing. The staff and particularly the customers are thrilled with the new addition and it is also ideal for private parties, as guests can pick the music that they want from the millions of tracks on offer.
