Refresh Your Pub For 2020
The turn of a new decade doesn’t come around every day and is therefore the perfect opportunity to inject a bit of something new into your pub. From a state-of-the-art jukebox, to a brand new drink on the menu, even the smallest pubs can reap the benefits of a few key changes to give your pub a much-deserved refresh. Whether you’re ready to go through a complete redesign or you’re just looking for something new this New Year, here are just a few ideas to get you started:
Consider Renovation
Don’t get us wrong, not every pub needs a renovation but if you have the budget, even just a splash of paint can make all the difference. Think about what you and your customers want from your space – are you looking for something traditional for a cosy, nostalgic atmosphere, or do you want a modern makeover to stand out from the crowd?
Hygienic products company, Tork, conducted a study into how colour can affect diners using brainwave technology to track their reactions. Each diner sat in eight different coloured spaces with matching food and drink. As they ate and drank, their responses were tracked using the technology. The results spoke for themselves – blue was a good colour for family-friendly pubs due to it’s welcoming but unromantic nature, while reds and blacks were best for promoting evening drinks and date nights. If your pub sells food, green and orange are perfect for family lunches, while red, once again, works for evening meals with friends or romantic dates.
The lighting can also make a huge difference, from its temperature to the placement. Despite being a subtle design feature that most of your customers may not directly notice, you can create a more comfortable or energetic environment all by changing the lighting fixtures. Warmer lighting can create that cosy ambience for a traditional pub and is perfect for enjoying food or drink, while dimmer lighting can be good for creating a more romantic, relaxed atmosphere.
Invest In New Pub Equipment
Modern or traditional, any pub looking for a refresh in 2020 should consider investing in new pub equipment. Those on stricter budgets or looking for a way to increase revenue in the coming months will benefit from our jukeboxes for pubs. Installation of our Angelina jukebox, for example, is completely free and you won’t have to pay anything upfront. We operate on a profit share basis, meaning we will share the profits made from the jukebox with you to ensure everyone benefits.
The Playdium jukebox itself operates on both a coin, and app-pay basis. Pub-goers can either choose songs via the touchscreen machine, or by downloading the app and checking into your location to use paid-for digital credits. This makes it ideal for any environment, whether you offer meals, a more club-like atmosphere or just want to offer better flexibility.
Get Crafty With Your Drinks
From new and exciting cocktails to craft beers and IPAs, it’s no secret that pubs are under increasing pressure to offer a wider variety of drinks. In fact, the non-alcoholic drinks category is the most pressing, with 55% of consumers claiming that soft drink options were boring or predictable while out, according to CGA. Bars and pubs are under particular pressure to offer something new and exciting beyond standard fizzy drinks or juices whether that’s mocktails, smoothies, kombuchas or alcohol-free ciders.
The number of young people dropping alcohol in favour of soft drinks is rising, with over 29% of 16-24 year olds saying they don’t drink. For an easy win this new year, consider expanding your menu and including a whole range of new, creative drinks. Whether you find new ways to recreate a cocktail without the alcohol content, or you start offering craft beers to attract a younger audience, offering that flexibility and choice to your customers could be all the refresh you need to start the new year on the right foot.
With a new menu, a fresh lick of paint and a Playdium jukebox installed, 2020 could be a turning point for any pub regardless of size. For more information about our jukeboxes for pubs or to book a site survey, get in touch with a member of our team, today.
